New Editions of Louis Vuitton City Guides - Louis Vuitton Art & Travel NEWS
Louis Vuitton has updated ten editions of its City Guides: Paris, London, New-York, Beijing, Lisbon, Moscow, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Since 1998, Louis Vuitton has instilled its nomadic nature into its collection of City Guides by proposing a selection that is as specialized as it is individual. With a growing catalog of 30 cities in print and digital formats, the collection has establish itself as indispensable companions for the discerning traveler. Each guide speaks as readily to flâneurs as to business travelers, or even local residents: there are both palaces and charming boutique hotels, gourmet restaurants and neighborhood bistros, street markets and upscale food shops, antique shops and designer hubs, museums and boutiques, unmissable monuments and secret spots…

This year, the Paris edition has been enriched with new addresses, following the updates of the Beijing, Lisbon, London, Moscow, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo guides. Architect and interior decorator François-Joseph Graf invites us to rediscover Paris, actress and singer Sophie Auster accompanies us throughout New York, and architects Alexei Ginzburg and Kengo Kuma share their visions of Moscow and Tokyo, respectively.

The Louis Vuitton City Guide mobile application, available on iPhone or iPad, offers the entire catalog of cities and covers thousands of regularly-updated addresses. Additional content can also be found on Apple TV, which proposes an ensemble of subsidiary video programming, and Louis Vuitton's connected Tambour Horizon watch, offering the “Around Me” and “24 Hours” features.

  • CHARLOTTE PERRIAND: INVENTING A NEW WORLD

CHARLOTTE PERRIAND INVENTING A NEW WORLD - Louis Vuitton Art & Travel NEWS
Upcoming exhibition at Fondation Louis Vuitton - From 2 October 2019 to 24 February 2020

On 2 October 2019 the Fondation Louis Vuitton opens a large-scale exhibition dedicated to Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999), a free woman, pioneer of modernity, a leading figure of the XX century design, who contributed to the definition of a new art de vivre

To mark the twentieth anniversary of the passing of Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999), the Fondation pays tribute to her as an architect and visionary creator through an exhibition of her work exploring the links between art, architecture and design.

The exhibition retraces the architectural work of Charlotte Perriand, whose creations presage current conversations about the roles of women and nature in our society. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to engage directly with a world of modernity thanks to meticulously researched, faithful reconstitutions that include works of art chosen by Charlotte Perriand, thus embodying her vision of a “synthesis of the arts”. Through this exhibition, the work of Charlotte Perriand invites us to rethink the role of art in our society. More than simply an object of pleasure, art is the spearhead of profound transformations in the society of tomorrow.

The exhibition dedicated to French artist Christian Boltanski runs at Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo through November 17

Christian Boltanski is a leading figure in contemporary art, considered as France’s most influential living artist. Since 1967, he has developed an artistic practice that embraces writing, film, sculpture and photography, with a focus on remembrance and time, infused with biographical milestones and references. Memory and its corollary, an obsession with avoiding forgetfulness and oblivion, are central to his vision, as is the ability to invent legends and myths. Animitas is one of his most ambitious projects: creating outdoor installations in secluded places, using bells to echo the configuration of stars on the night of his birth: September 6, 1944.

As part of its ongoing “Hors-les-murs” programme, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is honoured to show the two last chapters of this series:  Animitas (La forêt des murmures, 2016) shot in Teshima in Japan, and Animitas (Mères mortes, 2017) filmed by the Dead Sea in Israel. These two pieces, which form part of the Collection, echo, according to the artist himself, “the music of the stars and the voices of the floating souls”.

The Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo, located at the 7th floor of the Louis Vuitton Omotesando store, is a glass box inviting to penetrate a paralel world. Its visually stimulating architecture and unique exhibition place encourages the presentation of major contemporary artworks.
