  • HAPPY LUNAR YEAR TO ALL CHINESE COMMUNITIES OVER THE WORLD

On this Holiday season, Louis Vuitton is happy to celebrate the Chinese New Year and proves it with an exclusive animation dedicated to the seventh sign of the Chinese Zodiac, the wood horse.

Symbol of freedom and energy, the horse is one amongst the favourite animals of the Chinese, as it played a crucial role in the development of the Chinese Empire. This year, the horse represents one of Louis Vuitton’s core values as an emblem of travel. Thus, the 2014 Wood Horse year is a time of fast victories, unexpected adventure and surprising romance.

In line with romance, love, fairy tales, heroes and heroines, great adventures are amongst the main sources of inspiration of London based artist and film director, Mustashrik Mahbub. His travel background and talented illustrations of horses naturally brought Louis Vuitton to collaborate with him on this occasion.

  • CITY BAGS: A NATURAL HISTORY

The most recent illustrated book from Louis Vuitton ‘City Bags: A Natural History’ is unique, clever and playful.

Adopting a semi-scientific approach to its most emblematic and iconic bags, Louis Vuitton presents the first comprehensive taxonomy of its city bags. Taking the typical categorisation of industrial design objects from last century, this book chronicles the development and evolution of the city bag by appropriating and mimicking the scientific classification of animals and plants. Speedy, Papillon, Alma, Lockit, Noé, Bucket, Neverfull and Pochette, these bags have become today indispensable for the ideal wardrobe. Descended from the four early specimens, The Steamer Bag, The Vanity Case, The Keepall and The Alzer Suitcase, the ancestry of the city bags is delineated in splendour.

Available in French, English and Italian, this precious edition, published by Rizzoli NY, is exclusively available in Louis Vuitton stores.

Louis Vuitton looks back on 16 inspired years of artistic direction from Marc Jacobs.

Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs is a story of two personalities and their contributions to the world of fashion: Louis Vuitton, founder of the House of Louis Vuitton in 1854, and Marc Jacobs, its artistic director since 1997. Two innovators, both rooted in their respective centuries, advanced an entire industry. Two creators, each in his own language, appropriated cultural codes and trends in order to shape the history of contemporary fashion.
