• LOUIS VUITTON REINFORCES ITS COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

    - “Great design, sustainability and a great business do go hand in hand” - Michael Burke.

As part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of LVMH’s commitment to the environment, Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke, referring to the Horizon luggage, showed that improving a product’s environmental performance will give House customers ever-greater pleasure in their product experience.

Horizon luggage is the most eloquent testament to this fact. The ultra-light materials of its construction – the aluminium cane, 50%-finer canvas, composite body – make it lighter and sturdier than ever before and provide the traveller with remarkable comfort, in addition to reducing CO2 impact by 20% during use.

Beyond the highly technical patented parts, the use of local supplies, coupled with the entirely France-based assembly, limits transport requirements upstream and ensures both access to the savoir-faire required and respect for appropriate environmental practices (our workshops are ISO14001 certified).

Lastly, Horizon’s design is what makes it so sturdy, promising the long-lasting use critical to reducing the environmental footprint: 70% of repairs to this luggage can be performed in a Louis Vuitton store within 48 hours, minimising transport and offering high-quality service: "Sustainability is actually the friend of designers."

The global journey of “Voguez, Volez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton” continues with its arrival in New York, where the former American Stock Exchange will provide a grand backdrop for this immersive exhibition. Curator Olivier Saillard once again leads visitors through the history of the House as a thematic journey brought to life by Robert Carsen’s dynamic scenography.

With this latest instalment  the longstanding presence of Louis Vuitton in America is sure to resonate, from George Vuitton’s participation in the 1893 Chicago World Fair, to archival items that belonged to such illustrious clientele as Ernest Hemingway, Lauren Bacall, F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt families. Displays of collaborations with artists Stephen Sprouse and now Jeff Koons will allow visitors to see the House codes interpreted with a vibrant and distinctly local influence. Louis Vuitton opens a new store inside the Rinascente, via del Tritone.

Louis Vuitton renews its bond with the Eternal City by inaugurating the Maison’s third store in the capital, after the ones in Via Condotti and Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina.

Located inside the new Rinascente in Via del Tritone, the store rises in the heart of the main structure, within an early 1900s building called “Palazzetto”, a real palace within the palace. The façade of the Palazzetto, on which the store’s entrances and windows open, becomes an integrating and evocative part of the department store’s architecture.

A marvellously airy space acts as the frame to the entire range of accessories, leather goods, women’s and men’s shoes, travel accessories, fabrics and fragrances. Clients will be able to discover the newest products such as “My World Tour”, the collection of travel accessories, customizable with witty stickers and the owner’s initials, the “Horizon” trolley cases designed by Marc Newson and a limited edition shoe specially created for the Tritone Rome store.

Every weekend until November 12th, la Galerie will reopen its doors to the public.

The Asnières atelier is a pivotal location. Barely five years after founding Louis Vuitton, Louis himself began to outgrow his Parisian headquarters. In 1859, he relocated the new workshop to Asnières, a village a few kilometers northwest of Paris.

This new atelier was built in the ethereal Eiffel style, combining glass and steel. The exceptional savoir-faire of the Asnières artisans is such that, even today, key pieces are created here: rigid trunks, designs in rare or exotic leathers, special orders.

Visit Asnières to discover the intimate aspects of Louis Vuitton’s history, its ties with the ateliers, and admire in detail the presence of the Louis Vuitton universe in every creation.
