    Louis Vuitton Creates Trunks for Roland-Garros’ Legendary Trophies

    These two trophy trunks, handcrafted in Louis Vuitton’s historic workshops in Asnières, have been meticulously produced to house each of the illustrious Roland-Garros trophies, the Suzanne Lenglen Cup and the Musketeers’ Cup.

    Adorned in the iconic Monogram canvas, these trunks both feature the signature brass corners and lock. The terracotta-coloured interior evokes the clay surface. On the front,a “V” reminiscent of the lines on a tennis court adds the finishing touch to the trunk’s design.

    The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Challenger Playoffs will take place from  June 4th to June 12th 2017 in Bermuda.

    The path to the 35th America’s Cup Match presented by Louis Vuitton in Bermuda has taken its five challengers - Land Rover BAR, Emirates Team New Zealand, Artemis Racing, SoftBank Team Japan, Groupama Team France - and Defender, ORACLE TEAM USA, winner of the 34th America’s Cup, around the world. They have competed in a grueling cycle of intensely competitive regattas. However, only one team can win the right to go forward as the Challenger and compete for the America’s Cup itself against the Defender ORACLE TEAM USA.

    That is why Louis Vuitton has commissioned a new trophy and trunk to mark that achievement. The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Challenger Playoffs trophy will be awarded to whichever team emerges victorious as Challenger on June 11th or 12th on the Great Sound.

    Louis Vuitton teams up once again with Roland-Garros with its trophy trunks

    For Roland-Garros 2018, Louis Vuitton has joined forces with the French Tennis Federation for the second consecutive year. The Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles champions of Roland Garros’ tournament will respectively win the prestigious Suzanne Lenglen Cup and the Musketeers’ Cup. These trophies will be presented in two trunks designed by Louis Vuitton and customised with the poster for 2018’s tournament. This marks a legitimate collaboration for two illustrious French brands particularly attached to know-how, excellence, art, and promoting Paris and France worldwide.

    Since Louis Vuitton was founded in 1854, the customisation of its products through painting has been an integral part of its DNA and traditional know-how. The 2018 Roland-Garros poster, designed by the artist Fabienne Verdier, will be painted on the “trophy” trunks. This customisation, given pride of place once again this year, will add an exceptional and unique artistic touch to these cases. More than a means of identification, customisation above all makes it possible to meet customers’specific needs.

    Milan, May 26th 2017 – Louis Vuitton opens the first permanent pop-up store of the House, in Milan, inside the Rinascente

    The concept of permanent pop-up store is a real innovation for the House: the pre-existent Louis Vuitton Rinascente store gets a new guise. The ground floor becomes a temporary store with a constantly changing product animation and interior design. This enables the House to show the public a variety of new products.

    The protagonist of this new opening is ‘Masters’, a collection of bags and accessories realized in collaboration with Jeff Koons, who brought imagery from his long-standing ‘Gazing Ball’ paintings ­– a series of large-scale hand-painted reproductions of works by the Old Masters – to a range of Louis Vuitton products.

    ‘Masters’ collection is only the first of the innovations that will animate the new permanent pop-up store Louis Vuitton, opening to public from May 26th and customised to recall the inspirations of the collaborations hosted inside.
