• REOPENING OF LA GALERIE ASNIÈRES

Every weekend from April 27th to June 2nd, La Galerie will reopen its doors to the public presenting a new exhibition: Time Capsule.

This new atelier was built in the ethereal Eiffel style, combining glass and steel. The exceptional savoir-faire of the Asnières artisans is such that, even today, key pieces are created here: rigid trunks, designs in rare or exotic leathers, special orders.

From within its “Galérie” in Asnières, Louis Vuitton presents the newly installed Time Capsule, a journey through the history of the House that revisits its landmark innovations in technology and design. Travelling from the House’s beginnings in 1854 to the present day, the story is told using rare and celebrated objects selected from the Louis Vuitton archive.

The exhibition follows a visual timeline of landmark moments in the Louis Vuitton story, demonstrating the ways in which Louis Vuitton has anticipated the needs and desires of a changing world over 160 years generated by technological progress, with imaginative and ingenious new creations. In Time Capsule, heirloom designs live alongside some of the House’s most contemporary pieces, highlighting the ongoing commitment to constant innovation.

Visit Asnières to discover the intimate aspects of Louis Vuitton’s history, its ties with the ateliers, and admire in detail the presence of the Louis Vuitton universe in every creation.

A closer look at the new collection

Shortly after nightfall on Tuesday October 2nd, in the heart of the Louvre Palace in Paris, a brightly illuminated promenade set the stage for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2019 Show. This season, Nicolas Ghesquière embarked on an adventure of pure sartorial exploration, transporting us to a totally new, imagined world.

Classicism counterbalances exotic locales; the refinement of savoir-faire contrasts with the hardiness of nomadic equipment. The clothes’ reliefs create panoramas unto themselves; the confrontation of colours and motifs recount a tale of adventure. This absolute voyager conveys a world she has made her own. The Louis Vuitton House crosses and blends territories, creating an illusion of ideal geography.

Futuristic graphics contrasted with colorful floral prints and classic Monogram, contributing to a multi-layered allure. The Maison's savoir-faire was evident in the details such as precise tailoring, sequin-embroidered mesh, and exaggerated sleeve constructions. Reinterpretations of Louis Vuitton luggage abounded, including top handled, suitcase-inspired handbags and exotic-skinned Petite Malles.

  • WOMEN'S SPRING-SUMMER 2019 SHOW: THE COUR CARRÉE

Revisiting to the Cour Carrée of the Louvre, where Louis Vuitton's Spring-Summer 2019 runway show was held on October 2nd, 2018.

The Renaissance façades of the Cour Carrée, one of the courtyards of the Louvre Palace, were progressively built in parallel with the evolution of the rest of the Palace until the 17th century. The buildings form a square of approximately 160 meters in length. Hence the name “carré”, meaning "square" in French.

The Cour Carrée is also situated next to the historical axis of Paris, known as the Voie Royale ("triumphal way"). This axis is a straight line of monuments and thoroughfares that extends from the equestrian statue of Louis XIV next to Ieoh Ming Pei’s pyramid all the way to the Grande Arche of La Défense, passing through the Tuileries Gardens, the obelisk of the Place de la Concorde, the Champs Élysées, and the Arc de Triomphe on the Place de l'Étoile .
