• MEN'S FALL-WINTER 2019 SHOW: ANOTHER ANGLE

Revisiting the Louis Vuitton Men's Fall-Winter 2019  Show from a new angle.

Although Michael Jackson was the show's foremost inspiration, Virgil Abloh's follow-up to his Spring-Summer rainbow-colored début wove in recurring themes and a multitude of influences. Set to an original score composed by Dev Hynes, the looks passed in a meandering choreography against the backdrop of a New York City streetscape

A selection of key looks from the Louis Vuitton Men's Fall-Winter 2019 Show.

Presented at the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris, the Men’s Fall-Winter Fashion Show was Artistic Director Virgil Abloh’s follow-up to his Louis Vuitton debut last June. Expanding on the vocabulary established in the Spring-Summer 2019 Collection, Abloh elaborated on his vision of universality and inclusivity as it is rooted in the Maison’s travel DNA.

This season, the Artistic Director turned to Michael Jackson, whose extraordinary path from humble beginnings to international stardom provided inspiration from concept to set to silhouettes. For Abloh, by maturing in from of the world, Michael Jackson became the only recorded study of a man’s sense of dress from boyhood to adulthood to play out on a globally observed stage. The leitmotif of boyhood has been employed by Virgil Abloh to illustrate the time in a man’s lifespan during which he discovers his future wardrobe staples. For this latest collection, the progression of looks was a loose, non-linear, zip-zagging chronology inspired by elements of Michael Jackson’s sartorial signatures. Through military dress, sequinned finishes, sleek loafers, among other elements, the spirit of Michael Jackson reverberated from the runway.

MEN'S SPRING-SUMMER 2019 COLLECTION: NOW ONLINE - Louis Vuitton Fashion NEWS
Virgil Abloh's début collection for Louis Vuitton is now available online.

The highly anticipated and rainbow-colored Men's Spring-Summer 2019 collection, presented last June at the Palais Royal in Paris, was Virgil Abloh's ambitious début as Louis Vuitton's Men's Artistic Director. As a preview of the upcoming campaign, one of the most iconic Louis Vuitton models, the Keepall bag, has received an unmistakably-Virgil Abloh treatment. Both transparent and multi-hued thanks to its iridescent finish, the new Keepall Prism represents the union of the historic French Maison with the Artistic Director's singular vision. The new collection is now available online and is arriving in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide over the coming weeks.

  • MEN'S FALL-WINTER 2019 SHOW: THE SET

Bringing the mood and emotion of New York City to the set of the Men's Fall-Winter 2019 Show.

Echoing the theatrical production value of Michael Jackson's short films, Virgil Abloh sought to elevate the fashion show concept to a level evocative of Broadway for his second Louis Vuitton show. The Men's Fall-Winter 2019 set imagines a New York cityscape, its dwellers meandering through the streets, their steps illuminating the sidewalk as a nod to the King of Pop's iconic music video.

Watch the show live on Instagram and louisvuitton.com as of 2:30 pm (Paris-time) Thursday, January 17th, 2019.
