• TOUR OF THE "VOLEZ, VOGUEZ, VOYAGEZ" EXHIBIT IN SHANGHAI

Take a virtual tour of Louis Vuitton's travelling exhibition, now open to the public at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.

Peek into the recently opened "Volez, Voguez, Voyagez" exhibition in Shanghai to retrace Louis Vuitton’s history from its founding in 1854 to today. Curated by Olivier Saillard and designed by Robert Carsen, the show’s historic journey is divided into fifteen chapters and is punctuated by objects commemorating Louis Vuitton’s links with China. The tour opens with the most symbolic object of the House: the trunk. The exhibition features objects and documents from the Louis Vuitton archives, exceptional articles on loan from the Palais Galliera, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, Château de Versailles, Musée Carnavalet, as well as works by artists Yan Pei Ming and He An. The exhibition concludes with a display devoted to the savoir-faire of the artisans in the Louis Vuitton workshops.

As part of its LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF partnership and on the occasion of World Children’s Day, Louis Vuitton launches a new Silver Lockit bracelet designed by Sophie Turner.

World Children’s Day, held on November 20th, marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. It is a day to honor children and mobilize people to help save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential. In continuation of its #MAKEAPROMISE campaign, Louis Vuitton, with the help of Sophie Turner, continues its commitment to raise awareness and funds for UNICEF to support the most vulnerable children around the world.

Sophie Turner, English actress and Friend of the House, was invited by Louis Vuitton to design a special Silver Lockit bracelet to help LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF continue its promise to helping children. Inspired by her notion of luck, the bracelet was designed with braided red and white cord colours with a circular charm rabbit illustration, taken from the design* of her most recent tattoo.

Since the launch of the Silver Lockit in 2016, the partnership has raised over six US million dollars for UNICEF.

The Silver Lockit, inspired by the tumbler lock invented by Georges Vuitton in 1890 to protect clients’ most precious belongings, is a symbol of protection. It was chosen as a symbol of sealing one’s promise to help children at risk.

The launch of the Silver Lockit by Sophie Turner will be held on November 20th 2018 on louisvuitton.com and in over 160 Louis Vuitton stores worldwide.

  • LOUIS VUITTON'S JOURNEY TO CHINA

Sound, vision, and experience combine to give “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” Shanghai a strong sense of the powerful links between Louis Vuitton and China.

As Louis Vuitton’s landmark exhibition “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” comes to Shanghai, the House has chosen to intermingle the original scenography elements with references to the connection between Louis Vuitton and China. Both historical and contemporary, these new elements highlight the growing links between the House and Chinese culture, creating a “trail” of captivating objects and artworks to be discovered throughout the exhibition.

Upon entering, visitors travel through an immersive installation of traditional hanging lanterns that have been reinterpreted for a digital era and made over with Louis Vuitton’s touch.  A portrait of Louis Vuitton as a young man by the contemporary Chinese artist Yan Pei-Ming then greets visitors, bridging past and present and reflecting the changing faces of China itself over the past century and a half.

Throughout the following exhibition rooms, custom pieces, specially made for renowned explorers and artists, highlight the ever-present links between Louis Vuitton and China. There are early creations such as French philanthropist Albert Khan’s 1929 photographer’s trunk, used to accompany the benefactor and his photographer as they documented daily life in China, as well as more recent ones such as Chinese artist Ding Yi’s Cocktail & Cigar Trunk, created for the celebrated Shanghai native in 2018.
