A new exhibition at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton explores the contemporary art scene and creative expression in Romania.

From 11th October 2013 until 12th January 2014, ‘Romanian Scenes’ will be exhibited at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton in Paris. Asserting both their identity and the originality of their style, the works selected for the exhibition present an ebb and flow between the inner (themselves) and outer (the world).

Selected from an older generation of artists in Bucharest, Geta Bratescu evokes the theme of travel through drawings based on the principle of stream-of-consciousness writing, while Ion Grigorescu bears witness to a bygone era through photographs. In Cluj, a young generation of artists has adopted academic painting techniques and taken them across unexpected frontiers. Dan Beudean uses graphite to turn the characters in his works into icons, Simon Cantemir Hausi transposes his portraits to the verge of abstraction and Serban Savu paints the seeming banality of everyday life.

  • DUBAI STORE OPENING

DUBAI STORE OPENING - Louis Vuitton Art & Travel NEWS
In Dubai, LouisVuitton celebrates the opening of the first store dedicated to shoes.

Louis Vuitton continues its journey in the Middle East with the official opening of the first store dedicated entirely to men’s and women’s shoes. In a classical and refined setting, a large universe of shoes is presented, elegantly sub-divided into harmonious areas. The store also houses a special trunk: the Secrétaire Chaussures Dames, which suggests a glamorous past of travel traditions.

The Maison’s shoes are all manufactured at Fiesso d’Artico, Italy - which enjoys a worldwide reputation as the “land of shoes”. As early as the 13th century, craftsmen from Riviera del Brenta were providing shoes for the Venetian aristocracy. Like the fine leather goods workshops in Asnieres, the perfect balance between traditional savoir-faire, excellence in craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology is found here.
