Louis Vuitton will showcase the exhibition ‘Timeless Muses’ at the Tokyo Station Hotel from August 31st until September 23rd.

Louis Vuitton has been inspired by a number of fascinating women throughout the history of the House. Some have a long-standing relationship with Louis Vuitton and others have inspired products or entire collections. One woman in particular, the Empress Eugènie, played a key role in the life of Louis Vuitton himself. Her aura, influence and passion for travel fuelled his worldwide fame and she became the house’s first and devoted ambassadress.

The exhibition ‘Timeless Muses’, which is hosted in the recently renovated Tokyo Station Hotel, allows visitors to discover not only Empress Eugènie but also five other fascinating women who are part of the Louis Vuitton story. Charlotte Perriand, Françoise Sagan, Catherine Deneuve, Kate Moss and Sofia Coppola all light up the world around them and possess an individual vision. Adventuresses, pioneers and conquerors of a world in motion, these six women are Louis Vuitton’s muses.

Open now to the public, the exhibition ‘Timeless Muses’ uses immersive digital technology to enable visitors to discover these six exceptional women.

This 34th edition of the Louis Vuitton Cup held in the San Francisco bay finally reveals the winner and the challenger for the next America's Cup.

Two finalists, Italian team Luna Rossa and Team Emirates New Zealand, battled out the last races, at times with glimpses of close racing. With Skipper Dean Barker and Team Emirates New Zealand in the lead and hardly any mechanical failures, they took 4-1 in the finals. According to Luna Rossa skipper Max Sirena, their team had to count on being perfect for any chances of winning against the kiwis.

Lo and behold Team Emirates New Zealand took the title and are now holders of the 34th Louis Vuitton Cup. They take on the challenge to race against Team Oracle USA on 7th September. Crowds gathered to view the prize awarded to the team and celebrations continued at a gala dinner at The Fairmont Hotel.

Since 1983 the Louis Vuitton Cup has been the trophy awarded to the winner of the Challenger Selection Series for the America’s Cup.

The Monogram canvas is a never-ending source of inspiration, expressing the values and heritage of the House.

In 2011, Louis Vuitton perpetuated the know-how and creativity of the House by launching unexpected models combining the emblematic Monogram canvas, natural cowhide leather and, for the first time, coloured calf leather. Today, Louis Vuitton enriches this Monogram high-end collection with a contemporary hand-carry model.

Aside from its feminine design and rich functionalities, the bag offers a strong signature in the shape of a V in colourful supple calf leather revealing secured compartments. Four colour declinations will be available for the launch: Quetsche, Aurore, Havane and Safran.

This versatile everyday bag is inspired by Greek mythology, more specifically the Goddess of wisdom, arts and craft: Pallas Athena.

  • TAXI ENCOUNTERS - RIO DE JANEIRO

The fourth in a travel series about unique taxi experiences in the cities of the world.

As a traveler, often our first impression of a city and its people is the journey from station or airport in a taxi. From the black cabs encircling the thoroughfares of London, to the taxi boats of Venice, not forgetting the iconic Tuk Tuks of Thailand, the unique taxis of different cities have become iconic and the journeys in them defining moments in our encounters with the cities they frequent.

In the fourth part in Louis Vuitton’s travel series ‘Taxi Encounters’ we find ourselves in Rio de Janeiro, beneath the Corcovado and towering landscapes of this coastal paradise. Rio de Janeiro, meaning literally ‘January River’, is known throughout the world for its natural scenery, famous beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema as well as Brazilian dance and music genres samba and bossa nova.

This unexpected and colourful photography series, provides a glimpse into Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s abundant personal collection.

Representing the third generation of Vuittons, Gaston-Louis had many diverse interests which all were ultimately fundamental to the history of the House. Guided by his curiosity, his vision of travel and the desire to tackle subjects, his endeavors became, directly or indirectly, related to the future of the family business.

An erudite and collector since his childhood, Gaston-Louis accumulated many trunks and old travel articles from antiques, and auction rooms, as well as books, typography publications and, more specifically, hotel stickers (usually stuck on customers’ trunks). He conveyed his sense of architecture and design in artistic collaborations with the cutting edge of his time, producing objects both functional and aesthetic, including small cases, flasks, toiletry kits.

The selection of objects presented in this photo series tends to represent the rich diversity of his collection: most of these treasures were inspiration for the family business, others, like the “Despatch Box” suitcase or the crystal bottles set, were objects produced by the House in its will to always expand its field of activities and technical approaches.

The suitcase, which was his personal attaché-case, perfectly embodies this excellence in craftsmanship combined with a unique functional aspect represented by the side slot, allowing its owner to insert letters and documents in a confidential and discreet way.
