    "Friends and heroes"

    The Fall-Winter 2017collection is inspired of New York in the recent past - seventies, eighties, early nineties. A collective of quintessentially Manhattan artists come to mind: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe and Andy Warhol.

    This is a group whose creative strength and signatures allowed them the freedom to collaborate with one another to create new works, most famously Basquiat and Warhol. Both their creative approaches and their own wardrobes are references here, combined with the logo-heavy, denimdominated Harlem style of Daniel “Dapper Dan” Day, Hip Hop’s outfitter of choice, and the louche seventies decadence of the denizens of Studio 54. These are visual touchstones for a New York state of dress.

    The dynamic New York culture of the recent past - seventies, eighties, early nineties - is the point of excursion for the Fall-Winter 2017 Louis Vuitton men’s collection.

    "It’s uptown and downtown", says Kim Jones, Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director. "Artists and musicians, friends and heroes."

    The collection is an ode to the multitude of styles that co-exist and co-mingle in New York City. Inspiration comes from all walks of New York City life, spanning three decades and a multifaceted view of masculinity.

    What emerges is a new attitude and a silhouette of relaxed elegance: wide pants, an eased fit, a sense of the undone. Smart, but street-smart. Polished tailoring combines with workwear, the fabrics of Vuitton’s heritage of French luxury - silk, cashmere, vicuña, alligator - cut into genuine utilitarian shapes.

  • EXHIBITION IN SEOUL: INSPIRATIONAL KOREA

    Discover the Korean Room at the heart of the exhibition "Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton” in Seoul.

    Louis Vuitton presents “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez - Louis Vuitton” at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul from 8 June through 27 August 2017.
    Under the direction of Olivier Saillard, responsible for curating the event, the exhibition retraces the adventure of the Maison Louis Vuitton, from 1854 to the present, through the portraits of its founders, as well as of those who, today, are inventing the Louis Vuitton of tomorrow.

    This themed tour is divided into ten chapters, one of which is entirely devoted to South Korea. To mark the vibrant connections between Louis Vuitton and South Korea, the exhibition’s artistic director and set designer Robert Carsen has imagined a Korean room inspired by the Korean flag and the “Obangsaek” or five traditional Korean colours, representing different qualities and elements.

    Discover in video the exclusive content of this exceptional room, featuring objects and documents from the Louis Vuitton heritage archives, as well as select articles on loan from the Palais Galliera, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris and the Philharmonie de Paris.

    The exhibition is now open with free admission to the public in Seoul, till August 27th 2017.

    Louis Vuitton opens Supreme Pop-up Stores in several cities in the world from June 30th.

    Louis Vuitton opens a Men’s Pop-Up store in Paris, Los Angeles, Miami, Bejing, Tokyo and Seoul. The Pop-Up stores will exclusively offer a selection of the Autumn-Winter 2017 Men’s collection – a collaboration between Men’s Artistic Director Kim Jones and Supreme.

    For Autumn-Winter 2017, Supreme and Louis Vuitton collaborated for the first time, creating a capsule collection of clothing, leathergoods, accessories and jewellery, showcased alongside Vuitton’s own. More than a collaboration between two labels, this represents the excellence of New York street style and the Louis Vuitton’s French savoir-faire.
