PRESERVE YOUR PRODUCT’S JOURNEY
The Louis Vuitton article in your possession is crafted from a meticulous selection of the most exquisite materials by experienced artisans in our Ateliers. It was designed in accordance to the highest standards of quality and expertise that are true hallmarks of our house. Your product is very precious to us and deserves the same care and affection from you each and every day. With such consideration, and a few simple precautions, you may enjoy your Louis Vuitton product for many years to come.
To keep your Louis Vuitton product beautiful as the years pass, it is best to rotate its use periodically. This will allow the product adequate time to rest as frequent, uninterrupted, and generous wear may cause the materials to break down in an untimely manner.
Leather and canvas is best kept away from elements such as water, oil, perfume, any alcohol-based solution such as hand sanitizers, direct heat and light, humidity, or environments that are too hot or too cold. Prolonged exposure to such elements may provoke unwanted damage or premature wear. When in contact with water, wipe immediately with a soft cloth to avoid saturation. When using cosmetics, perfumes or any alcohol-based solutions such as hand sanitizers, please take time to be sure that they are dry on your skin before using your Louis Vuitton article.
Repeated contact with hard or rough surfaces (floors, such as carpets, rugs, walls) may cause the appearance of scratches and worn grain on corners and areas of greatest wear. Prolonged contact to dark or highly pigmented materials can transfer onto the surface of your leather or canvas product. It is best to limit the exposure to such surfaces and materials to preserve the original look and feel of your product.
At Louis Vuitton we take pride in our heritage, savoir-faire, and the exceptional care services we are able to offer our clients. We are happy to provide additional information or services to your pieces at any Louis Vuitton location.
Throughout the life of your product, you may notice a softening of the silhouette and a naturally occurring patina. This evolution along with the presence of natural aspects such as natural marks, wrinkles, and veins are anticipated and serve as proof of the uniqueness and authenticity of our products. Each impression leaving a lasting memory to be cherished forever.
To preserve the shape of your product, it should not be over-packed. When product is not in use, it is best to store it in the felt provided at purchase in a ventilated area. Storage in boxes or near sources of heat are not recommended as it has a drying effect on the materials.
This natural, vegetable-tanned cowhide leather, is deeply rooted in the History of Louis Vuitton. A hallmark of this leather is its transparency, which reveals natural markings such as veins and wrinkles, proving it has not been treated. This delicate, easily scratched leather will develop a rich amber patina, unique to each bag, and a greater suppleness in time. This patina, along with wear acquired through use, signifies proof of the product’s authenticity and journey alongside the owner.
Should this leather encounter water, blot immediately with a lint-free light colored, absorbent cloth. Cleaning with any solvents or chemicals is not recommended. Home remedies to darken the leather such as mink oil, saddle soap, leather lotions, or substances of any kind should be avoided at all costs. If the leather gets stained before the patina develops, do not try to clean it. Let it darken and stains will fade among the color. These chemicals can compromise the quality and integrity of the leather as it wears in time.
Through a rigorous selection process, calfskin and cowhide leathers are chosen for their refinement, suppleness and silky touch. To meet Louis Vuitton’s highest quality standards, only the best hides are selected. They may carry natural imperfections, such as veins or wrinkles.
These carefully selected leathers can be compromised with the use of any commercial cleaners. Elements such as oils, make up, perfumes, creams, or sanitizers applied to the leather can compromise its natural beauty and performance capabilities. For surface stains, we recommend cleaning with a soft, damp cloth with water.
Created in 1998 for the Spring / Summer fashion show, Monogram Vernis is proposing a vivacious, sparkling and ultra-feminin look.
The Vernis leather should be kept away from any materials that may transfer their color pigments onto the leather (for example magazines, denim, other leathers...). The risk of transfer may particullary affect small leather goods.
Exposure to sunlight should be avoided, as color may fade. Light colors are more sensitive to light and may take a yellow tinge or fade.
The symbol of Louis Vuitton, Monogram canvas, created in 1896, expresses the values and heritage of the House: authenticity, savoir-faire, excellence, and luxury. It is inimitable and unique, created through a painstakingly developed and impeccably executed process. Being supple and sturdy, it is perfectly suited for contemporary lifestyles. Today, this iconic canvas is patterned with an exceptional print, produced in accordance with our exacting quality standards.
Coated canvas can easily be cleaned with a damp cloth and slightly soapy water. Home remedies such as mink oil, perfume, alcohol-based solutions such as hand sanitizers, leather lotions, cleaners, or chemicals, should not be used on any canvas products. The use of such remedies may cause the canvas wear adversely and prematurely.
Contact with highly pigmented materials increases the risk of color transfer onto the canvas and should be avoided. Light colored canvas such as Damier Azur is the most susceptible to such wear.
Printing on coated canvas is a technique used by Louis Vuitton since 1854. Since then, new innovations and printing techniques have been developed to allow for more complex and rich designs. Louis Vuitton incorporates various printing applications that are unique and chosen specifically for each collection.
Each printing technique consists of thin layers of ink applied on top of the canvas. Such techniques allow for intricate designs and colors but can be susceptible to abrasion and fading. This can appear with gentle use at the areas of greatest wear (such as the corners, folds, and bottom).
To avoid such abrasion, limit the contact to hard or rough surfaces (walls, rugs, concrete) and rotate the use of your handbag to ensure optimal wear and longevity.
For cleaning, use a soft, damp cloth with slightly soapy water, avoiding the printed portions. Home remedies such as mink oil, alcohol-based solutions such as hand sanitizers, leather lotions, cleaners, or chemicals, should not be used on any canvas products. The use of such remedies may cause the canvas wear adversely and prematurely.
As our exotic skins are processed naturally, it is essential to protect from humidity, water spray and rain. Avoid all contact with water, alcohol-based solutions such as hand sanitizers, or any other liquids, which may alter the texture causing permanently visible stains and color transfer. Should your bag encounter water, immediately and gently blot the affected area with a light-colored, absorbent, lint-free cloth. Exposure to sunlight should be avoided as color may fade.
Crocodile, python and lizard skins are particularly sensitive to humidity and heat, which can irreparably unstick their scales. We recommend that you avoid any cleansing cream or product that would deeply stain your product.
Extraordinary creations that include any metallic leathers, beading, feathers, sequins or printing, require special care and should only be cleaned with a soft, light-colored, lint-free cloth.
The iPhone Folio is part of a new generation of technical cases embodying the heritage that Louis Vuitton has long prized: the world of travel and the ceaseless quest for innovation.
The iPhone Folio is a great expression of such innovation, showcasing an exclusive technology with a “gecko-inspired” material. The gecko is a lizard that has a smart, natural, adherence to any surface that can be 600 times more powerful than common adhesive tape. Inspired by this, Louis Vuitton has developed a functional material like that of a gecko without the use of any glue. This adherence surface is unlike any other, using millions of microscopic suction cups to safely secure your device. It is characterized by a somewhat dry feeling upon touch and the ability to be easily re-activated with simple cleaning.
Should the adherence grip strength diminish, simply wipe the surface gently with a a cloth dampened with water to remove all particles. Allow ten minutes to dry to ensure suction cups are properly re-activated. Replace device by applying light pressure for a secure hold.
The use of any alcoholic solutions, chemicals, or glues on the adherence may cause permanent damage. Application of other phone cases to the adherence will limit its performance capabilities and is not recommended.
Although this case reduces the risk of damage to your device, Louis Vuitton is not responsible for any direct and/or indirect damage to your phone, particularly resulting from use that does not respect the above care guidelines or involves non-standard use of the case.
With the finest materials, intricate weaves and print varieties, Louis Vuitton textiles are crafted in accordance to our highest quality standards. These luxurious and delicate textiles require special handling and attention to ensure these attributes over time.
Textiles are susceptible to the appearance of pulls caused by sharp objects such as fingernails, jewelry, zippers, etc., and should be avoided. When not in use, store in a cool, dry place away from dust and humidity.
Dry cleaning is recommended for cleaning. Any home remedies or machine washing can severely damage the textile.
Louis Vuitton fashion jewelry is made of brass with a golden or silver finishing, allowing for both durability and a lustrous appearance. While resistant, your jewelry requires special handing and care to ensure optimal performance and appearance.
It is recommended to use any perfumes, alcohol-based solutions such as hand sanitizers, hairsprays or lotions before putting on your jewelry, as repeated contact with such chemicals can cause the materials to dull or oxidize. Please take time to be sure that cosmetics, alcohol-based solutions and perfumes are dry on your skin. Please remove jewelry when bathing, cleaning, or performing strenuous physical activities. Wearing in very humid, or salty environments (such as a beach, sauna, or pool) is not recommended, as it can cause the brass to tarnish prematurely.
To minimize the appearance of surface scratches, limit the exposure to abrasive surfaces. It is always best to rotate your jewelry, as uninterrupted use may cause the materials to break down prematurely.
For storage, simply place in the pouch provided at purchase away from dust, moisture, heat and humidity. Lightly polish with the same pouch for cleaning. Immersing in water or the use of any chemicals may cause irreversible damage.
Louis Vuitton sunglasses are created with specially trained artisans in our ateliers with exclusive know-how. Crafted with cutting edge materials and fresh designs, your Louis Vuitton sunglasses can be easily maintained.
While wearing your sunglasses, it is best not to place upon your head to rest, as this may cause a widening of the arms and an augmented fit. Please keep in mind, as you wear your sunglasses, the frame will naturally form to your unique face shape.
For storage, place inside the pouch and protective case provided at purchase in a cool, dry place. Storage in hot environments (cars, heaters, etc.) for prolonged periods can cause the frame to deform and is not recommended.
To clean your sunglasses, place under lukewarm water and gently dry and polish your lenses with the pouch provided at purchase. Lightly soapy water using mild dish detergent may also be used to remove residue from the lenses and frame.
Louis Vuitton timepieces are made in Switzerland with generational know-how that embodies the spirit of the house. Your timepiece is a living, working object that functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, requiring the highest levels of performance. Servicing your timepiece every 3-5 years will help keep your timepiece in its best condition.
To prolong the life of your timepiece, please take into account the following considerations:
Timepieces perform differently depending on the level of use, unique to each wearer. To avoid magnetization of your timepiece, limit contact with magnets, telephones, and security scanners. Protect your timepiece from external shock as this can severely impact the functionality. Please remove when performing strenuous physical activities and sports (lifting heavy objects, golf, swimming, etc).
For automatic timepieces, if not worn regularly, they may need to be re-wound in order to ensure optimum performance. The timepiece can be re-wound manually using the crown.
For smart watches, ensure that the moble phone and watch are both regularly updated.
Exposure to extreme temperatures may cause slight condensation under the watch glass. This will disappear by itself and will not affect watch performance. If condensation does not go away, please contact a Louis Vuitton boutique. Avoid prolonged, full immersion and use of the crown of your timepiece in water, as this can affect its performance capabilities. Avoid contact with water if wearing a leather or canvas strap . The depth of water resistance is located on the back of your timepiece. Check your watch annually to ensure water resistance.
To clean your timepiece, simply polish with a soft, dry cloth. It is not recommended to clean leather straps as they will age with time and wear. The lifespan of a leather strap will depend on its exposure to moisture and frequency of wear. Rubber straps can be cleaned with slightly soapy water. For steel straps, a soft brush and soapy water can be used to eliminate deposits between the links.
Store your watch in the box provided at purchase or in a cool, dry place away from dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
For specific usage instructions, please refer to the booklet provided to you at purchase.
Created with delicate accuracy and precious materials, Louis Vuitton's fine jewelry is a delightful companion that will stand the test of time. To ensure your lasting treasure's beauty, please note the following considerations:
Cleaning instructions:
- Pieces can be cleaned with warm water (not more than 30°C). Brush is not recommended. Dry completely before polishing with a jewelry polishing cloth (specific and adapted - 50% polyester/50% nylon only very soft touch).
- If your jewellery is made of mother-of-pearl or ornamental stones, clean it regularly using a soft cloth or plain water. Let it dry thoroughly each time it is cleaned. Mother-of-pearl, an organic substance, and ornamental stones may be damaged by various conditions or practices.
Care instructions:
- Ensure your piece is stored in the pouch or box provided at purchase to avoid scratches and debris. Store each piece separately to avoid abrasion caused by other jewelry.
- Protect your piece from external shock, as this can affect the setting and its performance capabilities.
- We strongly recommend applying fragrances or cosmetics before wearing your jewellery, allowing sufficient drying time to avoid direct contact with stone or mother-of-pearl, and avoid exposing your jewellery to high temperatures.
- For refreshing, polishing services or any other specific care, please contact a jewelry specialist in our Louis Vuitton boutiques.
High Jewelry pieces should only be entrusted to a specialist in one of our Louis Vuitton boutiques as these are extraordinary creations that require specific care.
Crafted from beautifully selected leathers, Louis Vuitton shoes are the perfect blend of sophistication and savoir-faire, passed down through generations of dedicated craftsmen in Italy. These natural and living materials need to be regularly cared for so that you may fully appreciate their beauty and comfort for years to come.
It is best to rotate your shoes every two days of consecutive wear. This will allow the leather fibers adequate air and rest. When not in use, store in the felts provided at purchase in a dry place away from any direct heat source. To preserve the shape of men’s city shoes, we suggest storing with a shoe tree after each use.
Contact with water or products containing solvents, oily, or abrasive elements should be avoided as they may cause unwanted staining or blisters. When putting on your shoes, a shoehorn is suggested to avoid damaging the material in the back of the heel. For proper maintenance, be sure to have the toplifts (the bottom of the heel, made generally in rubber, in direct contact with the ground) of your shoes changed periodically to prevent from becoming too worn down as this can become very slippery to the wearer.
By taking care of your Louis Vuitton shoes in this way, you will be able to wear them for many years and fully appreciate their beauty and comfort. Do not hesitate to ask for advice in your Louis Vuitton store where our specialised sales-associates are at your disposal to guide you and answer your questions.
For cleaning grained leather, wipe any surface stains with a soft damp cloth. Once the leather is dry, polish it in circular strokes using a high quality colourless cream and a soft cloth.
Patent leathers can be cleaned with a soft dampened light coloured cloth, and then dried with a clean cloth. To avoid color migration, limit contact with other leathers or highly pigmented colors.
Metallic leathers can be cleaned with the help of a soft and dry cloth.
Exotic leathers can be cleaned with a soft and dry cloth and then polished, in the direction of the scales, using a high quality colourless cream. These leathers are delicate and very sensitive to humidity. If at anytime they do come into contact with water, sponge them carefully with a soft absorbent cloth.
Suede and nubuck leathers can be maintained with a soft shoe brush to preserve the velvety texture. If shoes have been in contact with water, please allow ample time to dry before cleaning. In case of superficial stains, a rubber brush may be used.
These precious and delicate calf leathers have kept all their natural hair due to a special tanning process. The eventual colour shades thus demonstrate this authenticity. To clean pony styled leathers, use a soft and lightly dampened cloth and always respect the direction of the hair. Avoid repeated rubbing with abrasive objects (trouser hems, brushes…) which may alter the smooth appearance of the calf hair.
Fabric and leather shoes, or completely fabric shoes, must never be washed by soaking in water or in a washing machine. This would cause damage or migration of color and can detach the sole from the shoe.
The textiles used at Louis Vuitton have a water repellent finish that limits the risk of stains. However, the lighter coloured textiles still remain susceptible to staining. Once your textile shoes have been cleaned, please leave them to dry in the air before putting them away in their felt pouch.
The cotton canvas can be cleaned with the help of a brush or a lightly dampened cloth.
The satin can be cleaned with the help of a very lightly dampened cloth using gentle circular movements. Because this is a delicate material, please avoid rubbing it too hard so as not to remove the anti-stain treatment. Further care should be taken not to scratch this fabric against abrasive surfaces.
Made of goatskin or calfskin leather, suede insocks and linings are extremely delicate. They are specially treated to stabilise the colour pigments, but there is still a risk of colour release, which is due to their natural finishing.
Our garments have been exclusively created with top-quality materials and innovative techniques. To ensure its longevity, we advise to store your pieces in a cotton garment cover (never in plastic) and in a dry and cool space. In case of rain or snow, hang it up to dry and clean it delicately with a soft cloth to remove any stains.
For demin, the fabric used has been traditionnally or indigo dyed in order to give it its vintage aspect, which may lose color and will evolve with time.
Dry cleaning is recommended on most products. Furs and leathers can be entrusted to a specialist. Please refer to care label in garment for specific cleaning recommendations.
