Innovation in Sustainable Operations

Louis Vuitton believes in the continuous improvement, development, and implementation of innovations across global operations — challenging how it works and rethinking every step of its supply chain to mitigate environmental impact according to our Regeneration 2030 roadmap.

Sustainable Operations
[suh−stey−nuh−buhlop−uh−rey−shuhnz] noun.

Management of organizational processes and resources in a way that minimizes environmental impacts while maintaining long-term economic performance.

Supply Chain Traceability

Louis Vuitton ensures transparent traceability across its strategic raw material supply chains, mapping each step from field to finished product. Certifications help verify social and environmental standards, while dedicated traceability systems confirm material origin and composition and help mitigate social and environmental risks such as deforestation, pollution, and water depletion.

Objective by 2030:
100% of strategic raw materials supply chains integrate dedicated traceability systems.

Eco-manufacturing

Louis Vuitton applies ecodesign principles across its workshops to reduce environmental impact, redefining craftsmanship with a clear hierarchy: reduce, reuse, and recycle. From the design stage, the House minimizes waste and prioritizes circularity. Internal resource centers give unused leather, textiles, and metal components a second life, while specialized recycling channels process production leftovers.

Objective by 2030:
100% of strategic material waste in our workshops to be reused or recycled.

Responsible Packaging

True to our founder’s heritage as a box-maker and packer, Louis Vuitton’s packaging continues to uphold its founding activity. The House reduces packaging volume, prioritizes certified, recycled and recyclable materials, and eliminates single-use virgin plastic. By 2030, this objective will extend beyond our client and transport packaging to include packaging received from suppliers.

Objective by 2030:
Eliminate virgin single-use plastic across all packaging (client, industrial, transport and raw materials).

Low Carbon Transportation

Louis Vuitton continuously innovates to deliver products efficiently while reducing transport emissions. Launched in 2024, the LV SHIFT® program accelerates the transition to low-carbon logistics by expanding sea freight and testing new solutions. Through a partnership with French startup Grain de Sail, nine transatlantic sail cargo crossings since 2024 reduce CO₂e per ton-kilometer by 90% compared with conventional shipping.

Objective by 2030:
40% of deliveries use lower-carbon transport modes.

Sustainable Architecture

Louis Vuitton integrates sustainable architecture principles across its stores, workshops and logistics sites. New constructions and major renovations follow recognized certifications such as HQE™, LEED®, and BREEAM®, and when possible adopt bioclimatic design. These standards support energy efficiency, low-emission materials, responsible construction and demolition waste management.

Objectives by 2030:
100% of global operations powered with renewable energy.
100% of building construction and renovation meet environmental certification standards.
